María Schön is an artist living and working in Sagaponack, New York.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, of Venezuelan parents, Schön grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where she began her formal art training at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Although her education and career developed entirely in the United States, the images in her landscapes — inspired by the rich visual experiences of her time spent in Venezuela — always exhibit a deep connection in subject and atmospheric sensuality to her South American roots.

Schön holds a BFA degree in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA degree in Film Production from New York University. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including being named “Academy Fellow” to the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences during her film studies at NYU. Her works are found in the collections of Mayo Clinic, Citibank, Johnson & Johnson, as well as other corporate and private collections in Italy, Venezuela, Mexico and the United States.
